Native to most of Africa and areas of southern Europe, the Egyptian Mongoose is one of the most widespread of all the mongoose species. Egyptian Mongoose primarily feeds on insects, scorpions and small vertebrates, but will occasionally feed on fruit.
The Jackson’s Mongoose, also known as the Black-legged Mongoose, is a Viverrid native to the rainforest areas of Africa including Uganda and Kenya. They feed on invertebrates including insects, crabs, small rodents and carrion.
The Water Mongoose, also called the Marsh Mongoose, is so named for the papyrus swamp regions of Africa they inhabit. They are primarily a carnivore but known to eat fruit and other plant material. It is said that they will play dead to lure birds close enough to capture.
